Het Merkur Spielbank Hohensyburg, een van de vier speelbanken in Noordrijn-Westfalen, werd tussen 1983 en 1985 gebouwd naar plannen van de architect Harald Deilmann nabij de Hohensyburg in Dortmund en is de derde speelbank in NRW. De Merkur Spielbank Hohensyburg behoort tot het bedrijf Gauselmann-Groep. Het land NRW verkocht op 1 september 2021 alle vier speelbanken in de deelstaat aan het bedrijf voor een totaalbedrag van 141,8 miljoen EUR. Tot de opening van het Merkur Casino Duisburg was het casino in Dortmund het meest omzetgevende in Duitsland.
