Het verbindt het Rambowermeer met het Rudowermeer. Het kanaal loopt door het Rambowermoeras langs het kleine dorp Nausdorf, een wijk van Lenzen. Al in de 15e eeuw was er een molentak die de Nausdorfer watermolen aandreef, die tot 1833 bestond. Het kanaal werd tussen 1862 en 1879 aangelegd en in 1924/25 tot zijn huidige grootte uitgebreid.
Het kanaal is ongeveer 5 km lang en is 8 tot 10 m breed aangelegd, tegenwoordig is het op sommige plaatsen maximaal 3 m breed. De diepte bedraagt ongeveer 1 m, op de bodem ligt een dikke laag modder.
