De marktfontein in Goslar wordt beschouwd als een van de belangrijkste bronzen gietwerken uit de romaanse tijd en is de grootste en oudste bewaarde marktfontein van de romaanse periode in Duitsland.
De fontein bestaat uit twee boven elkaar geplaatste bronzen schalen, waarbij de onderste schaal groter is dan de bovenste schaal. Beide schalen zijn verbonden door een in het midden geplaatste zuil. De zuil is vanuit de bovenste schaal voortgezet en wordt gekroond door een vergulde rijksadelaar. De vandaag de dag aangebrachte adelaar is een kopie van het origineel dat in het Goslarer Museum wordt bewaard.
