De Steenkolenmijn Pluto was een steenkoolmijn in Herne, in de wijk Wanne-Eickel. De mijn werd aanvankelijk onder de naam mijn St. Nicolaus geleid en later omgedoopt tot mijn Pluto. De naam van de mijn is geïnspireerd op de Griekse god Pluto, de god van de onderwereld. De mijn Pluto was een van de oprichters van het Rijn-Westfaalse kolensyndicaat. Bovendien was de Mijnbouw-Aandeelmaatschappij Pluto een van de oprichters van de vereniging voor de mijnbouwbelangen. In de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw behoorde de mijn tot de belangrijkste mijnen van de overheidssregio Arnsberg.
