De Wambachsee is een van de zes meren van de Zes-Meren-Platte in Wedau. Het is het enige meer dat niet direct met de andere meren is verbonden. Het is via een ondergrondse kanaal, dat aan de kanosportvereniging grenst, verbonden met het Masurameer.
De Wambachsee is het enige meer van de Zes-Meren-Platte waar het duiken is toegestaan. Het meer is ook een opleidingslocatie van de Verband Deutscher Sporttaucher. Een duiktoegang voor sportduikers, die de toegang moet vergemakkelijken, bevindt zich aan de oostelijke oever van het meer.
