De Köppernitz is een stroomgebied op het grondgebied van de gemeente Barnekow en de stad Wismar in Mecklenburg-Voor-Pommeren.
De rivier ontspringt ten zuiden van Krönkenhagen, een deelgemeente van Barnekow en ten westen van de A 20. Van daaruit stroomt hij in noordelijke en daarna in noordoostelijke richting door Groß Woltersdorf en Klein Woltersdorf, ondergaat de B106 en stroomt dan aan de zuid- en oostrand van het Bürgerpark in Wismar. Hij mondt uit in het noordelijke gedeelte van Wismar en aan de zuidpunt van de Wismarer Baai in de Oostzee.
