Bij het krijgsgevangenkamp Büderich ging het om het noordelijkste van de zogenaamde Rijnweidekampen.
Het kamp werd vanaf 20 april 1945 door Amerikanen ingericht voor in gevangenschap geraakte Duitse soldaten. Het ongeveer 90 ha grote kamp bevond zich op het Meerfeld aan de rand van Büderich, begrensd door de toenmalige hoofdrijdweg 58, de Boxteler spoorlijn en de spoorlijn Haltern–Venlo, de zoutmijn Borth en het dorp Büderich. Het was omgeven door prikkeldraad.
Onbeschermd moesten ongeveer 80.000 krijgsgevangenen op blote akker leven, totdat het kamp op 15 juni 1945 werd ontbonden en de gevangenen in een mars naar het kamp Rheinberg werden verplaatst.
