De klim naar het dorp Herhahn vanuit Gemünd kun je doen over de drukke B266. Maar er zijn twee mooie alternatieven over wirtschaftswegen (wegen afgesloten voor autoverkeer m.u.v. plaatselijk verkeer en landbouwvoertuigen), waardoor de drukke Bundesstraße wordt vermeden.
1) Eerste alternatief is de Alter Römerweg in Gemünd (steil in het begin, tot 12%) en vervolgens de weg Am Lieberg, en daarna de Haselnußweg.
2) Tweede alternatief is de weg Hohenfried volgen vanuit Gemünd.
Daarnaast is er nog vanuit de zuidoostkant een mogelijkheid om naar Herhahn te klimmen, vanuit plaatsje Scheuren, via het Höddelbachdal.
