De Aschaff is een rechter en noordelijke zijrivier van de Main, ongeveer 17 km lang, samen met de bronbeek Kleinaschaff goed 21 kilometer, en ligt bij Mainaschaff in de onderfrankische Landkreis Aschaffenburg. Ze stroomt in westelijke richtingen door het Beierse Spessart.
De oorspronkelijke naam ascafa stammt uit het Oudhoogduitse woord asc voor es en het Indoeuropese woord Ap, dat water betekent. Als verklaring komt hieruit voort "een waterloop bestaande uit essen." De rivier gaf de gemeenten Waldaschaff en Mainaschaff, evenals de stad Aschaffenburg, waarvan de stadsdelen Damm en Strietwald erdoorheen stromen, hun namen. Dezelfde naam oorsprong heeft ook de nabijgelegen rivier Elsava.
