Crest is een gemeente in het Franse departement Drôme . De gemeente telde 8.680 inwoners op 1 januari 2019. De plaats maakt deel uit van het arrondissement Die.De stad was in de middeleeuwen een eigengoed van de familie Arnaud. Zij bouwden er hun versterkte burcht. Vervolgens kwam de stad in het bezit van de familie Poitiers, de graven van Valentinois en Diois. Hun gezag over Crest werd door de bisschoppen betwist en dit leidde tot een twee eeuwen durende twist. Ook Cesare Borgia en Diane de Poitiers waren heren van Crest. De familie Grimaldi was heer van Crest van 1643 tot aan de Franse Revolutie.
