De Hurtaut is een rivier in Frankrijk, die door de regio's Grand Est en Hauts-de-France stroomt. De bronbeek ontspringt onder de naam Ruisseau de Serre in de gemeente Signy-l’Abbaye en stroomt in het algemeen in zuidwestelijke richting door het landschap Thiérache. Ongeveer ter hoogte van het gehucht La Malacquise, in de gemeente Saint-Jean-aux-Bois, verandert ook de waterloop zijn naam in Malacquise. Hij bereikt onder Renneville de grens met de buuregio Hauts-de-France, verandert hier opnieuw van naam in Hurtaut en ook zijn stromingsrichting naar noordwest. Uiteindelijk mondt hij na in totaal 38 kilometer bij Montcornet als linke zijrivier in de Serre uit. Op zijn weg doorkruist de Hurtaut de departementen Ardennes en Aisne.
