Como is een Italiaanse gemeente met 83.649 inwoners, de hoofdstad van de gelijknamige provincie in Lombardije. Como trekt internationaal toerisme aan dat verbonden is met het natuurlijke landschap, en is een industrieel centrum gebaseerd op de zijde-industrie.
Het centrum van de stad ligt aan het meer, rondom het plein van de Dom, een van de meest gewaardeerde monumenten van Noord-Italië. De historische kern heeft nog steeds het uiterlijk van het oorspronkelijke romeinse castrum, met goed bewaarde middeleeuwse muren en grote uitkijktorens.
