De Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana heeft de bijzondere Salviati Planisphere in haar bezit. Dat is een wereldkaart die de Spaanse kijk op het aarde toont in 1525. Het omvat de oostelijke kusten van Noord- en Zuid-Amerika en de Straat van Magellan. In plaats van denkbeeldig materiaal op te nemen in onontgonnen gebieden, zoals gebruikelijk, werd er op deze kaart voor gekozen om die geieden bewust leeg te laten, wat toekomstige verkenning uitnodigt. Het was een duidelijke kaart met als idee "We don t know". Zoals de auteur Yuval Noah Harari in zijn boek Sapiens zegt: "Het nodigt de kijker uit om te vertrekken en het uit te zoeken".
