De San Zeno Kathedraal staat op het Piazza del Duomo en is de belangrijkste kerk van Pistoia. Ze wordt gekenmerkt door de typisch Toscaanse zwart-witte façade. Hoogtepunten zijn de Dossale di San Jacopo en een door Della Robbia gemaakt reliëf boven het portaal. De huidige versie van de kathedraal is het resultaat van een verbouwing in de 12e eeuw.
De San Jacopo Kapel (ook wel Kapel van het Kruisbeeld) is aan de rechterkant. Hier kan men de Dossale di San Jacopo bewonderen, één van de kostbaarste zilverstukken van Italië, dat bijna een ton weegt en uit 628 door verschillende kunstenaars, waaronder Brunelleschi, gebeeldhouwde figuren bestaat.
Het uitzicht op de toren is geweldig. In het baptisterium aan de overkant koop je je kaartjes en ga je met een gids naar boven.
