In een poging de toeristen te spreiden, werd de High Scardus Trail ontwikkeld, een langeafstandspad door de ongerepte bergwereld van Kosovo via Albanië naar Noord-Macedonië. Er zijn twintig etappes. Het traject verlaat de begane paden, en dat mag je letterlijk nemen. Tig keer moeten we op onze passen terugkeren omdat we te laat op onze gps kijken, maar dat maakt de trip ook spannend. Het letterlijke hoogtepunt is de top van de Korab, de hoogste berg van Albanië en Noord-Macedonië op 2.764 meter. De piek ligt pal op de grens en de vlaggen van beide landen wapperen er broederlijk aan dezelfde mast.
