Varsseveld is een dorp en voormalige gemeente in de gemeente Oude IJsselstreek in de Nederlandse provincie Gelderland, met meer dan 5.995 inwoners. In een akte uit 823 wordt de naam Wazovelde het eerst genoemd. Gedacht werd dat dit Varsseveld betrof, maar huidige consensus zegt dat dit Dwarsefeld is. Dan is de oudste akte waarin Varsseveld voorkomt uit 1152.
