Deze kapel is gebouwd tijdens de eerste helft van de 16e eeuw en is
uitgevoerd in de gotische stijl.
Zij meet inwendig ongeveer vier bij acht meter en is gedekt met een rieten dak.
Na eeuwenlange leegstand en verwaarlozing werd het gebouw in 1918 door de vereniging Hendrick de Keyser (gevestigd in Amsterdam) aangekocht en daardoor gered van de sloop.
Na een ingrijpende restauratie in de jaren 1955-1957 werd de kapel op 15 mei 1960 opnieuw gewijd, ditmaal aan Dymphna. Dymphna is de patrones van geesteszieken en epilepsie.
