Machame Gate is één van de toegangspoorten tot het nationaal park mount Kilimanjaro.
Het is ook de locatie van verschillende kantoren van de parkautoriteiten (TANAPA - Tanzania National Park Authorities), en een administratief startpunt voor alle wandelaars die de Machame trekking route naar de top gebruiken.
Je moet er registreren om het park te betreden en een entry-fee betalen.
Het gebied krijgt het hele jaar door veel regen. Er zijn een paar hotels in de buurt voor accommodatie voor de beklimming.
