Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, werd door BBC-Earth geselecteerd als een van de 15 meest verbazingwekkende landvormen op aarde. Gelegen op het Colorado Plateau, is de Bryce Canyon in het zuiden van Utah een natuurlijk amfitheater vol met torenspitsen en hoodoos. De Paiute Indianen noemden het "rode rotsen die als mannen in een komvormige kloof staan". De hoodoos werden gevormd toen water herhaaldelijk bevroor en smolt in de verticale scheuren van sedimentair gesteente. Sommige hoodoos zijn hoger dan een gebouw van 10 verdiepingen.
