Riverhead is een stad binnen Suffolk County, New York, aan de noordkust van Long Island. Sinds 1727 is Riverhead de zetel van Suffolk County, hoewel de meeste provinciale kantoren in Hauppauge zijn. Bij de volkstelling van 2010 was de bevolking 33.506. De stad ligt aan de monding van de Peconic River, waaruit het zijn naam ontleent. Het kleinere gehucht Riverhead ligt binnen de stad en is het belangrijkste economische centrum van de stad. De stad ligt 166 mijl ten zuidwesten van Boston via de Orient Point-New London Ferry en is 76 mijl ten noordoosten van New York City.
Aan het begin van de 20e eeuw zag de stad een toestroom van Poolse immigranten. Dit leidde tot de oprichting van Polish Town, waar jaarlijks de populaire Polish Town Fair wordt gehouden.
