Aquesta cerveseria familiar va ser fundada el 1897 per Arthur Van den Bossche i ha estat propietat de la mateixa família des dels seus inicis, ara la quarta generació .
La cerveseria i la casa cervesera annexa formen un exemple ben conservat de cerveseria de poble de finals del segle XIX. El complex inclou una sala de cocció, una malteria, una cotxera, una ferreria i pous , agrupats al voltant d'un pati empedrat.
La cerveseria és més coneguda per les seves cerveses Pater Lieven i la gamma Buffalo .
La primera cervesa Buffalo, Buffalo 1907 , es va crear, segons la tradició , per casualitat durant una funció del circ Buffalo Bill al poble. Una remoció oblidada li va donar un lleuger gust de cremat , que va ser sorprenentment apreciat.
