La construcció de l'Església de Sant Dàmas es va iniciar a la primera meitat del segle XVII i no es va concloure fins al segle següent.
El cor té un retaule notable de talla daurada , obra del tallista de Guimarães Pedro Coelho, i el sostre és de cassetones. La nau també està decorada amb retaules portuguesos de finals del segle XVII i principis del XVIII. La talla de fusta combina perfectament amb les rajoles històriques que decoren l'interior. Van ser realitzats a la primera meitat del segle XVIII, s'atribueixen al monogramista PMP i representen episodis de la vida del Papa Sant Dàmas .
