Landet "Helefamilienæste", på kanten af den værdifulde Abeekdal, er ifølge lokal overlevering fødestedet for Pieter Bruegel den Ældre. Den oprindelige bygning stammer fra det 13. århundrede, men blev genopbygget i 1866 efter en brand.
I det 15. århundrede var "Helefamilienæste" ejet af greverne af Hoorn. En allé med træer forbandt gården med en vandmølle langs Abeek. Denne vandmølle blev flyttet til det Provinsielle Friluftsmuseum i Bokrijk
