Kirken Saint-Ursmer i Lobbes kan betragtes som den ældste kirke i Vallonien. Naven og de to tværskibe tilhører faktisk karolingertiden. Allerede i slutningen af det 11. århundrede, eller ifølge en nylig undersøgelse, allerede i slutningen af det 10. århundrede, hvor et kapitel af kanoner blev indsat, blev kirken ændret, især ved udvidelsen af koret og ved ombygningen af den store halvmuldede krypt, som stadig er bevaret.
