Midt i skoven står Geuzentårnet, et rundt tårn bygget af jernsandsten. Bygherren M. Scribe lod sig i 1864 måske rive med af tidens 'follies' for at opføre bizarre, romantiske bygninger i engelsk stil. Efter en inspirerende gåtur i skoven i 1888 stod Omer Wattez og hans ven, digteren Pol De Mont, på Geuzentårnet og beundrede landskabet. Og siden Pol De Mont dengang udbrød: 'Men det er her de flamske Ardenner!', blev det dette kælenavn for området.
