Den pittoreske kirke i Sint-Jan-in-Eremo stammer fra 1682 og er helliget til Sankt Johannes Døberen. Her stod der allerede i 984 en kirke, men den blev ødelagt under Sankt-Elisabeths oversvømmelse i 1377. Den udendørs gang i syv stationer illustrerer livet for Johannes Døberen. Der blev bedt imod sygdomme som kramper, 'seskens' og epilepsi. Overfor kirken står 'Pinte ende Sproete', to døtre af hanen Cantecleer fra Reynaertfortællingen. I søjlen står et aftryk af Reynaert prentet. Oprindeligt hed dette sted Sint-Jansdorp, senere kom termen 'in eremo' til, latin for 'i ørkenen'.
