Murten er en by i det schweiziske Merenland, halvvejs mellem Bern og Lausanne ved Murten Sø, 450 meter over havets overflade. Det ligger præcist på sproggrænsen. De fleste af de 6545 indbyggere taler både fransk og tysk.
Murten er en karakteristisk by med mere end 800 års historie og et middelalderligt centrum. Den gamle bymur med tårne, rådhuset, nogle porte samt de talrige gamle huse er turistattraktioner. Hauptstrasse er særligt stemningsfuld. Ligeledes det lille slot fra det 13. århundrede i nærheden. I 1976 blev byen delvist restaureret.
