Begyndelsen var en gård nær Rorup, som var blevet skænket til bispedømmet Münster. I 1856 bosatte redemptorister sig her. Dette første kloster måtte lukke i 1873 som følge af kulturkampen. Efter dens afslutning flyttede tyske benediktinerinder fra det Hellige Sakrament fra den nederlandske Oldenzaal til klosteret i 1891. I 1895 begyndte nonnerne at bage småkager. Fra Hamicolt blev klosteret Vinnenberg genoplivet i 1898, og i 1902 blev abbediet Varensell grundlagt. I Hamicolt drev søstrene en småkagebageryd og en paramentsyning. De sidste otte søstre flyttede den 1. marts 2008 til det katolske plejehjem i Rosendahl-Osterwick.
