Pelizaeus-Gymnasiet er med ca. 1500 elever det største af de seks gymnasier i byen Paderborn. Det bærer navnet efter sin stifter, Johanna Pelizaeus, som i 1859 etablerede en privat katolsk "højere pigeskole" med kostskole i Paderborn med støtte fra kirkelige kredse som ung lærer. For piger over 14 år var Pelizaeus-Gymnasiet den første katolske videregående uddannelsesinstitution i Paderborn. Kort forinden var en evangelisk højere pigeskole blevet etableret.
