I middelalderen var der et herred i Born, en Heinrich von Born blev udnævnt i 1286. Familien lod den foregående bygning af det nuværende slot opføre. Det blev i 1705 ødelagt ved angreb fra hertugen af Marlboroughs hær.
Omkring 1740 blev det nuværende slot bygget af familien Faust fra Aschaffenburg-Hattstein. I 1775 arvede familien De Villers det. I 1978 købte kommunen slottet og solgte det igen i 1985.
