Wéris ist eines der schönsten Dörfer Walloniens. Es erstreckt sich über einen Hang, in einer Region, wo Condroz und Ardennen aufeinandertreffen, etwa 6 km südöstlich von dem weit und breit bekannten Durbuy, das es übrigens zu einer Gemeinde gehört. Es ist auch so, dass der Name Wéris (die dortigen Menschen sprechen das s deutlich aus) keltischen Ursprungs ist - das französische guérite (Wachhäuschen) ist davon abgeleitet - und mehr oder weniger Beobachtungsposten bedeutet.
