Im 10. Jahrhundert war der Standort der heutigen Burg eine von Wasser umgebene Burg, die Teil eines Gürtel von Festungen entlang der Schelde war; der Keller aus dem 15. Jahrhundert und der Turm aus dem 16. Jahrhundert sind die ältesten Überreste; 1981 wurden die Burg, das imposante Tor, der alte Taubenturm und die elegante Hängebrücke über den Parkteich als Denkmäler geschützt. Heute wird sie als Veranstaltungsort für kulturelle Aktivitäten (Konzerte, Ausstellungen), Meetings und Empfänge genutzt.
