Das Feriengebiet Kosmos war ein Erholungsgebiet mit unter anderem Tennisplätzen, einem Fußballplatz, einem Freibad, einem Hotel mit Restaurant und Festsälen sowie den Jugendpavillons Home Boskant und Home Zeewind.
Das Hotel wurde 1934 als Jugendhotel erbaut. Der ursprüngliche Komplex war relativ klein. In den 60er bis 80er Jahren war es ein sehr bekannter Ort für Jugendliche, CM-Camps und Jugendbewegungen. Dieses Gebäude wurde 2004 als denkmalgeschützt eingestuft.
Das Kosmos war hauptsächlich für sein Freibad aus den 60er Jahren bekannt. Im Jahr 2002 wurde die Genehmigung des Schwimmbades aufgrund von Lagerproblemen, Hygiene und "nicht zugänglich für Rettungsdienste" widerrufen.
Im Sommer 2009 wurde das Kosmos-Domäne an die Flämische Gemeinschaft verkauft. Von dem Hotel bleibt nur das Hauptgebäude stehen, da dies Kulturerbe ist. Die anderen Gebäude und das Schwimmbad wurden abgerissen.
