Mit dem Weiterbau der R32 in Beveren würde der Norden von Beveren vollständig vom Rest von Roeselare abgeschnitten werden. Daher bestand Bedarf an Parallelstraßen, die den Verkehr zu den umliegenden Straßen leiten. Ein Ventweg ist also ein straßenbaulicher Begriff für einen Dienstweg entlang einer großen Landesstraße.
