Diese familiengeführte Brauerei wurde 1897 von Arthur Van den Bossche gegründet und ist seit ihrer Gründung im Besitz derselben Familie, mittlerweile in der vierten Generation .
Die Brauerei und das angeschlossene Sudhaus sind ein gut erhaltenes Beispiel einer Dorfbrauerei aus dem späten 19. Jahrhundert. Der Komplex umfasst ein Brauhaus, eine Mälzerei, eine Garage, eine Schmiede und Brunnen , die um einen gepflasterten Innenhof gruppiert sind.
Die Brauerei ist vor allem für ihre Pater Lieven -Biere und die Buffalo- Reihe bekannt.
Das erste Buffalo-Bier, Buffalo 1907 , entstand der Überlieferung nach zufällig während einer Zirkusvorstellung von Buffalo Bill in der Stadt. Durch vergessenes Umrühren bekam es einen leicht verbrannten Geschmack , der überraschenderweise geschätzt wurde.
