Groß Grönau ist eine Gemeinde im Norden des Kreises Herzogtum Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein. Sie grenzt im Norden und Westen unmittelbar an den Lübecker Stadtteil St. Jürgen und bildet mit Lübeck eine Agglomeration. Im Ort gibt es eine Außenstelle der Verwaltung des Amtes Lauenburgische Seen. Groß Grönau hat keine weiteren Ortsteile.
Die östliche Gemeindegrenze bildet die Wakenitz, die gleichzeitig an ihrem Ostufer Landesgrenze zu Mecklenburg-Vorpommern ist. Entlang der Wakenitz verläuft der Drägerweg als Wanderweg von Lübeck nach Rothenhusen am Ratzeburger See.
