Eine Burg mit Geschichte: Die Burg wurde im 13. Jahrhundert erbaut und im 15. Jahrhundert erweitert und ummauert. 1543 gelang es Kaiser Karl V., die Burg des Jülicher Grafen einzunehmen. Die Franzosen organisierten es daraufhin als Nationaleigentum und verkauften es. Der damalige Besitzer konnte das Gebäude jedoch nicht alleine unterhalten und die Burg verfiel und wurde leider zur Ruine. Viele Jahre später wurde das Schloss renoviert und nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg wurde im Westflügel eine Jugendherberge eingerichtet. Auf diese Weise blieb die Burcht lebendig und einladend. Jedes Jahr wird im Innenhof "Monschau Klassik" veranstaltet, das Orchester und die Künstler verwandeln das Schloss dann in ein wahres Mekka für Opernliebhaber.
