Die Royal Naval Academy war eine Einrichtung, die 1733 im Portsmouth Dockyard gegründet wurde, um Offiziere für die Royal Navy auszubilden. Die Absichten der Gründer waren, ein alternatives Mittel zur Rekrutierung von Offizieren bereitzustellen und eine standardisierte Ausbildung, Bildung und Zulassung anzubieten. 1806 wurde sie in Royal Naval College umbenannt und 1816 wurde sie zum Royal Naval College und zur Schule für Schiffbau. 1837 wurde sie als Ausbildungsstätte für Offizieranwärter geschlossen.
