Der Turm wurde 1550 von der Bruderschaft des Heiligen Michael erbaut .
Es handelt sich um ein mächtiges Bauwerk mit einer perfekten geometrischen Form , einem quadratischen Grundriss und sichtbaren geschnitzten Oberflächen, ohne Fenster außer auf der Südseite. Es weist die Merkmale einer Festung auf, die in Sciacca zur Zeit Karls V. (16. Jahrhundert) erbaut wurde, als die Gefahr von Piratenangriffen oder einer türkischen Landung am größten war. Der Turm wurde vermutlich zu Beobachtungszwecken errichtet und diente später als Glockenturm.
Heute ist es auch ein privilegierter Aussichtspunkt, von dem aus Sie ein 360-Grad-Panorama über die gesamte Stadt genießen können.
