Harskamp ist der Ort, an dem der Infanterieschießplatz Harskamp angesiedelt ist, der am 1. September 1899 in Betrieb genommen wurde. Hier werden jährlich zwischen 110.000 und 140.000 Schützen ausgebildet. Es gibt auch eine Reihe von Verteidigungsmuseen: das Infanteriemuseum, das Infanterieschießplatzmuseum, die historische Sammlung der Nationalen Reserve und das Schmalspurbahnmuseum.
Das Dorf ist insbesondere für den Tourismus und die Präsenz von Campingplätzen und Freizeitparks aufgrund der ruhigen Lage am Rand der Veluwe bekannt. Eine bekannte Attraktion ist die Passiflorahoeve, eine Pflegeeinrichtung, die die Nationale Pflanzenkollektion Passiflora verwaltet. Es ist auch ein sehr christliches Dorf: bei den Gemeindewahlen 2006 erhielt die SGP hier 50,26% der Stimmen, die drei christlichen Parteien zusammen mehr als drei Viertel. Das Dorf hat eine reformierte und eine gereformierte Kirche.
