Zundert ist eine Stadt in der niederländischen Gemeinde Zundert, in der Provinz Nordbrabant. Die Stadt zählte am 1. Januar 2021 8.340 Einwohner. Zundert liegt südlich von Etten-Leur und Breda entlang der Bredaseweg, südlich von Rijsbergen. Der Name 'Zundert' begegnet uns zum ersten Mal in einer Urkunde von 1157, in der der Bischof von Lüttich die Schenkung von Zehnten von Sunderda an die Abtei von Tongerlo bestätigt. Deutungen des Namens als abstammend von der germanischen Göttin Sandraudiga oder als isoliert, werden heute verworfen. Die Bedeutung wird heutzutage gesucht in: Süd-Erde, Land im Süden. Das heutige Dorf Zundert ist aus der Herdgang Groot-Zundert hervorgegangen, die neben Klein-Zundert bestand.
