Auf dem 234 Hektar großen Anwesen Noordhout, das bereits im 19. Jahrhundert bewaldet war, liegen einige historische Felder und steht ein monumentales Jagdhäuschen aus dem Jahr 1852. Zu dieser Zeit bestand die Umgebung aus unberührtem Land. Ein Teil von Noordhout ist als Waldreservat ausgewiesen und nicht für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Hier können die natürlichen Prozesse ungestört ablaufen. Am 8. Oktober 2013 wurde in der Nähe des Jagdhäuschens die Ecoduct Mollebos über die Autobahn A12 und die Eisenbahnlinie Utrecht - Arnhem eröffnet. Tiere können sich so zwischen dem südlichen und dem zentralen Teil des Utrechtse Heuvelrug bewegen.
