In Meudon Park you will find one of Brussels’ oldest buildings: the 12th-century Romanesque tower. This tower is all that remains of the old Saint Pieter and Paulus church, which burned down in 1936.
In Medieval times, this church served as the parish church for the village of Neder-Over-Heembeek. Since 1920, this former farming community has been part of the city of Brussels. As you continue on the trail you will pass the historic development of Neder-Over-Heembeek. You will see agricultural land and small farms, but also old labourers’ homes, ‘bel-etage’ houses from 1950s to the 1990s, and residential towers from the 1960s and 1970s.
