The Johannes a Lasco Bibliothek is a non-university, public, and accessible special library focused on the humanities and theology, located in Emden. It is named after the Reformer Johannes a Lasco, who came from Poland and was active in Emden between 1540 and 1555. The main areas of collection are the history and theology of Reformed Protestantism, the history of confessions in the early modern period, and the regional history of East Frisia. It is the most significant library of its kind. Additionally, the institution also has a considerable museum section.
