It is now possible to visit this masterpiece by Vermeer. Not a miniature, but a life-size house where you become part of the painting.
Madurodam has chosen the mysterious house as the facade for the soon-to-open attraction ‘The Dutch Masters’. ‘Precisely because there is so much to do. We cannot go back in time, so no one knows exactly where this famous house by Vermeer stood. But from now on, it is in Madurodam! In the new attraction, children and adults will step into several paintings by Rembrandt van Rijn, Vincent van Gogh, Judith Leyster, Piet Mondrian, and Johannes Vermeer. How wonderful it is that you enter through a world-famous 17th-century house.
The new attraction is an interactive and colorful family attraction where discovery, play, and experience are central. Visitors are taken into the works of some Dutch Masters, where the aim is to touch everything, climb, and discover playfully. ‘With the same imagination as how one currently looks at the mysterious painting, we hope that children will also discover and learn everything here. And yes, we certainly do not rule out that tourists will also come specifically for the facade. After all, it is the only replica of ‘The Little Street’ by Vermeer.’
