La estación de Mechelen es la estación de tren más importante de la ciudad de Mechelen. Gracias a la ubicación central de Mechelen, la estación se convirtió en un nudo ferroviario. Las líneas de tren 25 y 27 y la línea 53 convergen aquí. Al oeste de la estación, en el distrito de Hombeek, se encuentra el punto de inicio de la línea ferroviaria 54. En 2012 se inauguró la nueva línea ferroviaria 25N.
