El cementerio de Reningelst y la 'Extensión' se utilizaron desde marzo de 1915 hasta que se inauguró el 'Nuevo Cementerio Militar' en noviembre de 1915. La mitad de los caídos que fueron enterrados en la 'Extensión' murieron en Hill 60 en Zillebeke tras el intento de las tropas alemanas de recuperar la colina artificialmente construida con gas cloro el 1 de mayo de 1915. La 5ª división del ejército británico resistió, pero más de 300 soldados tuvieron que ser trasladados a una de las 'Ambulancias de Campo' detrás del frente.
