Loterbol es un apodo que los diestenses recibieron de sus competidores de Mechelen. Una loterbol es una bola que no está fija. La cervecería Loterbol, anteriormente conocida como "De Brouwketel" y "Brouwerij Duysters", consta de una cervecería casera y una cervecería separada. Desde 1860, se comenzaron a elaborar cervezas oscuras en Diest, mejor conocidas como Diesters. La cervecería Duysters era conocida por su Royale, un tipo de cerveza de gremio oscura y negra, y sus cervezas de mesa marrones.
