En la Calle del Pueblo en Machelen-aan-de-Leie se encuentra entre los árboles la joya oculta, el castillo Eeckendauw.
Este lugar patrimonial fue construido alrededor de 1850 por encargo de la familia notarial Van der Eecken y ha estado en posesión de la familia Dauwe desde 1950.
El nombre 'Eeckendauw' es una combinación de los nombres de ambas familias.
El castillo está construido en el estilo arquitectónico neoclásico, destacando su hermosa fachada con columnas jónicas y frontón.
Al igual que en el castillo de Olsene y en el castillo de Zulte, la nevera se ha conservado. También la cochera todavía está intacta.
Junto al castillo Eeckendauw se encuentra el cementerio militar francés.
