Gerresheim es un barrio de Düsseldorf y se encuentra en el distrito 7 al este de la ciudad, en las alturas periféricas de la región de Niederberg. La ciudad, que antes era independiente, es una de las cuatro localidades urbanas que se desarrollaron en la actual área de Düsseldorf durante la Edad Media. Los orígenes del lugar se remontan a un convento de mujeres del siglo IX. El nombre del lugar se hizo conocido más allá de Alemania debido a la antigua fábrica de vidrio de Gerresheim que allí se encontraba. En 1909, Gerresheim fue incorporado a Düsseldorf; el lugar ha mantenido el carácter de una pequeña ciudad independiente. A finales de diciembre de 2016, el barrio tenía 29,585 habitantes y una superficie de 6.74 kilómetros cuadrados.
